3-in-1 Eggs, Toast & Coffee Maker
A Functional prototype of a wireless home IOT consumer appliance which automatically prepares a quick breakfast in the morning. The unit houses a cartridge based coffee maker, egg boiler and toaster with a unified interface which allows users to adjust the hardness of egg, doneness of toast and size of coffee. We built a working system utilizing off the shelf components from coffee machines, toasters and egg boilers.
After experimenting and understanding the water flow from reservoir to coffeemaker and egg boiler as well as the thermal behavior of the toaster plates, we started to refine the design in CAD using a stainless steel chassis + plastic panel cladding approach.
We designed a custom egg boiler with embedded IR sensors to detect the number of eggs, as well as a toaster drawer that allowed easy insertion and removal of toast.
The entire system was controlled via a custom interface + driver PCB which could be controlled & programmed remotely over Bluetooth with a smartphone.
